This is a rotation providing an overall understanding of all aspects of the industry, operations and The Vulcan Way. Upon successful completion of the program Trainees will have gained strong knowledge in the following areas:

Through our Operations Management Trainee program, we’re developing future leaders who will play a supervisory role in our plants. By giving current employees a foundation for a rewarding career, and exposing them to every aspect of our business, we’re able to keep our quality standards high. Aggregates Industry - How It Works

Start at the Quarry

Aggregates extraction:

•Precise blasting of rocks

•Explosive agents in the ground to minimize vibrations

•Blasts are scheduled to minimize impacts on the community

•Routine communicate with their neighbors

From Big Rocks to Small Rocks

Large rocks crushed, sorted by size

•No hazardous chemicals used

•Strict environmental/safety regulations

•Inherently low-carbon process compared to other industries

The Foundation of Society

•+2.56 billion tons of aggregates annually (~10 tons pp)

•Transported by truck, rail and barge

•Local supply of aggregates is imperative

•End product: concrete, asphalt used to build neighborhoods, cities, roads, infrastructure

Reclaiming the Land

Quarries have lifespan

•Reclamation: wildlife habitats, water reservoirs, parks, golf courses, amphitheaters, housing developments, etc.

•Mining is the interim use of the land
